Hello beautiful people! Thank you, first and foremost, for continuing to read this blog! Now without further ado, here is another concert feature. On April 7th, I had the pleasure of attending the Toronto concert for YouTube singer-songwriter, Edmonton’s own Daniela Andrade. With an opening set from Chatham, Ontario-based singer-songwriter Mark Beasley, Daniela played to an attentive crowd at the Lula Lounge in Toronto. Amidst the rainy night and the small venue, fans were content at seeing a singer who very rarely performs in Toronto at a venue so close to home. For your multi-sensory (or as close to it as possible) enjoyment, here is my recap of Daniela Andrade’s show in Toronto!
Opening the evening was Chatham’s own Mark Beasley, who earned some new fans that night with his emotional voice and soft but sweet musicality. Playing a half-hour to 40-minute set, Mark then opened the floor for Daniela to take the stage.
The woman of the night finally took to this small stage and opened with a cover. Throughout the night, she played some original tunes, including some that had never been before played live (from her upcoming record), and some familiar covers and new covers that had yet to be posted on her channel. The most memorable song of the night, however, was the cover that helped skyrocket her popularity – her hauntingly soft cover of Radiohead’s “Creep”. She ended her set with a couple of duet tracks with Mark Beasley, who reappeared to help her sing their collaborative track “What Would You Have Done?”, as well as a cover of Ingrid Michaelson’s “You and I”.
She took the stage after disappearing for two minutes to do an encore. The fans gave a roaring cheer and applause when she finished her encore, thus having witness some great talent that night. Daniela and Mark are both two of the most refreshing singer-songwriters I have had the pleasure of seeing perform live. If you ever get a chance to see them perform, I would highly recommend it!
